Get ready for a whole-day getaway on a postcard-perfect island located in the Province of Leyte. This private tour in Kalanggaman Island is perfect for those looking to spend a sunny day of swimming and sunbathing away from the bustling city.
After being picked up from your accommodation in Leyte, you will hop on a boat that will take you straight to Kalanggaman Island. This gem is located off the coast of the municipality of Palompon and was declared a marine sanctuary since 2009. It is said that Kalanggaman Island is named after “langgam,” a Cebuano word for birds since according to locals, it resembles the shape of a bird when viewed above. Aside from this, the island used to be a home for migratory birds many years ago, which makes the name even more fitting.
On your boat ride to the island, you will get a glimpse of the waving palm trees and fine white sand at the center of the turquoise water of Leyte. Once you arrive here, you will be greeted by a long stretch of white sandbar. You can walk along sandbar stretching on both sides of the island, but make sure to pay attention to the signs to avoid getting caught in the rip current, especially during high tide. Bask under the sun and take some snapshots around the paradise-like island, as well.
If you’ve brought some snorkeling or diving gear, feel free to do so, too. Get up close and personal with Leyte’s turquoise underwater paradise. You can also do kayaking and paddleboarding, but the equipment is to be arranged before you leave the mainland. After having your fill of the beach activities, you will have a sumptuous lunch under the shade of the palm trees, while you enjoy the surrounding seascape.
Sail across the blue sea and visit Kalanggaman Sandbar off the coast of Leyte with this day tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
