Hop on this day tour around the southern part of Batan in Batanes, where you can watch the ocean dance in the western cliffs of the Chawa View Deck and see the spectacular views of the so-called Marlboro Country. If you want to see why Batanes is highly-rated by nature lovers, this shared day tour is for you.

You will be picked up within the Basco area and taken to your first stop, Paderes View Point. This viewpoint is actually located in the middle of the road, where the famous “Blow Ur Horn” sign can be seen. The sign has been in existence since the American regime as a precaution to avoid vehicular accidents in the area due to the road’s sharp turns. You will stop by the side of the road and admire the vast seascape in front of you.

You will see more fascinating views at your next stop, the Chawa View Deck. This lies along the steep mountainside and features a stairway leading to the beach below. Make sure to take photos of the picturesque view of the West Philippine Sea and West Batan cliffs before you head to your next stop, the Mahatao Shelter Port, where most of the boats of the locals are sheltered from the fierce waves. You will also see the Mahatahataw Idjang, aka mountain fortress that protects the Ivatans from strong winds and rains.

From there, you will be taken to two lighthouses, the Busbusan Lighthouse and Tayid Lighthouse, where you have the best views of the town of Basco. When taking pictures, include the red-roofed hut near the lighthouse, as it makes for a great contrast with the green hills. You will then make your way to the San Carlos Church of Mahatao. The church’s original architecture was replaced by a stone-and-lime facade after being destroyed by a strong storm in the past.

You will be dropped off at the Spanish Lighthouse & blank book archive for some quick photo-ops before having your lunch at Maivanaman. Once you get back on the road after your meal, you will be visiting a handful of other attractions, including the San Lorenzo Ruiz Chapel, Alapad Hills & Rock Formation, LORAN (Naval Base), Our Lady of Miraculous Medal in Itbud, and Song Song Ruins. You will then be taken to another fascinating view deck, the Motchong Viewpoint. This vast expanse of pasture offers spellbinding views of the surrounding sea.

After your photo-op at the view deck, you will head to the San Antonino De Florencia in Uyugan. This church is painted in pink, making it stand out from all the other churches on the island. Some four kilometers from the chapel is the Honesty Coffee Shop, a 24/7 unmanned neighborhood store that relies on the buyer’s honesty.

Feel free to purchase some goods and souvenirs here before you head to the San Jose el Obrero in Ivana and Church Ruins. You will also get the chance to see the House of Dakay, the oldest house in Batanes built in 1887. From there, be transported back in time with a visit at the Tuhel Spanish Bridge that dates back to the 1800s. You will end your day with a relaxing stay at Homoron White Beach and Blue Lagoon.
