Hit the country road and experience the best of Dumaguete on this full-day sightseeing tour. If you’re one of the many backpackers seeking peace and quiet in the countryside, then this excursion is just what you need and more.
Your trip kicks off once the tour vehicle picks you up from your accommodation within Dumaguete City. You will then head to Barangay Malabo for your first destination, the Red Rock Hot Spring. Here, you can enjoy a relaxing dip in its warm sulfur water, which is believed to heal health problems like asthma, arthritis, and sinusitis, among others. Surrounding the pool are lush green forestry and mountain ranges that make a perfect background for photo-ops.
Not far from the hot spring is the Pulangbato Twin Waterfalls. Upon arrival at the site, the first thing you will notice is the natural red rocks dotting the area, which explains why the place is called as such. One of the falls’ water cascades on a wall covered with sulfur deposits, as well, making the rocks appear red. Despite the presence of sulfur in the water, you can still go for a swim in the natural pool.
Afterward, you will visit the Cata-al World War II Museum in the town of Valencia. It houses a large personal collection of World War II artifacts discovered in the region by a father-son duo, namely Porforio and Felix Cata-al. Porforio himself will take you on a tour of his collection. Here, you can find burnt remains of an American militia uniform, Japanese currency, and more.
Your last stop will be at the Subida souvenir shop. The shop boasts of an array of traditional Filipino toys, health and beauty products, jewelry and original artworks, food, and clothes. Make sure to buy at least one souvenir to take home.
