Get introduced to the historic highlights of Cebu province in this family-friendly seat-in-coach tour. Covering important sites in both Cebu City and Mactan, this trip is perfect for those who are interested in the history and culture of the two towns.

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Cebu City in the morning. If you’re staying in Mactan, you will meet your guide at Starbucks Marina Mall. From there, you will head to two of Mactan’s most important landmarks: Lapu-Lapu Monument and Magellan’s Shrine. These sites commemorate the Battle of Mactan, where a native chieftain, Lapu-Lapu, defeated the Spanish colonizers led by Ferdinand Magellan.

After admiring the shrine, you will then head to Alegre Guitar Factory, a family business that has been producing world-class guitars for generations. Observe the skilled craftsmen here as they make these musical instruments from scratch. Make sure to buy one of the guitars to take home, too.

Then, depending on the size of the group, you will make your way to either the Taoist Temple or Pedro Calungsod Chapel. The Taoist Temple sits at an elevation of 110 metres above sea level, making it an excellent view deck. You will see a  replica of the Great Wall of China upon entering the temple, along with a chapel, a souvenir shop, and a wishing well. The Pedro Calungsod Chapel, on the other hand, is a chapel dedicated to the great Roman Catholic Filipino saint – San Pedro Calungsod. The structure of the chapel is unlike anything you have seen before as it features 100 walls of different heights and widths.

After admiring the site, you will have a stopover at the Heritage Monument, which depicts important events in the history of the province through sculptures. Just across the street from the monument is the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House. This structure is said to be the oldest Chinese house built outside China.

Another landmark you will see is Magellan’s Cross, which celebrates the birth of Catholicism in the country. Magellan brought the cross with him in 1521, when the Spanish arrived in the Philippines. From there, you will go to Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño, the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country. This place of worship houses the Sto. Niño de Cebu, the oldest Catholic relic in the Philippines. You will then end your day with a running tour around Colon Street, Fuente Osmena Circle, and Capitol Site.

Hop on this shared day tour of Cebu City and Mactan and get to know Cebu’s rich history and heritage. Check availability by choosing a date.
