Join this sightseeing day tour around Roxas City, Capiz that will take you to the city's top tourist spots from Iloilo City. To those looking for a convenient and fun introduction to the Philippines' Seafood Capital and its notable historical and cultural landmarks, this guided tour is perfect for you.
After your driver picks you up at your accommodation in Iloilo City, you'll make your way to Roxas, Capiz, known as the Seafood Capital of the Philippines because of the abundance of fresh seafood.
Your first stop is Sta. Monica Church, which is also referred to as Panay Church. The church was constructed back in the 1880s from coral blocks. That same year, the locally famous Panay Bell was made. This 10-ton bell is believed to be among the largest in the country. It was produced from sacks of coins given by the then residents of the town.
From there, for groups of 11 and above, you can opt to stop by the Sacred Heart of Jesus, located roughly 12.4 kilometers from Panay Church. The site features a 40-meter-high statue of Jesus Christ, which was built from 2011 to 2015. After a quick photo-op in front of the statue, you will head to Panublion Museum. Here, you will learn about Capiz's chronicled past, dating as far back as the Spanish settlement in the sixteenth century. You will be able to observe displays commending the way of life and some of the notable individuals in the region, as well.
From the exhibition hall of Panublion Museum, you will be taken to the Provincial Capitol building and Roxas bandstand for another round of photo-ops before you visit the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral. This church dates back to the early 1700s, ranking it as one of the earliest cathedrals on the island. Today, it stands as an integral part of Roxas City.
From the cathedral, you'll proceed next to Banica Dried Fish Market for some seafood shopping. As the Seafood Capital of the Philippines, Roxas City is abundant in fresh seafood of various kinds, so make sure to try seafood samplers or eat within the area. You will also be visiting Spanggo Foods Café & Pasalubong (souvenir) Center and Panulce Dessert Shop to purchase some take-home desserts and souvenirs. To cap off your day, you will take your lunch or dinner at Baybay Beach (at your own expense), where you can rest for the day and watch the quiet seascape.
