Surround yourself with nature and go on a farm tour in Zambales. Visit the Dagui Family Farm, a sustainable agricultural land situated in Barangay Angeles San Antonio, Zambales, an area that’s located just around the corner of famous local beach locations such as Angawangin, Nagsasa and Pundaquit. This whole day outing includes an educational tour of the farm, a fun kuliglig ride, a short lecture on vermiculture, a meet and greet activity with friendly farm animals, and a sumptuous lunch of fresh produce and local delicacies.
Established in 2018, the Dagui Family Farm is an offshoot of NW Farm Zambales, a local farming community that encourages collaborative and ecologically-sound agricultural practices. The family farm aims to provide a sustainable livelihood within the surrounding areas while yielding quality farm produce at reasonable prices. You will start this agri-tour by viewing the Honey Bee area where you will witness the steps involved in caring for bees that produce honey. If you’re up to it, you could opt to put on a beekeepers hat so that you could handle the artificial beehives for unique photo op.
Of course, you get to taste the sweet nectar produced by these honeybees before moving on to a fun ride onboard a “kuliglig”, an improvised motor vehicle made up of a two-wheeled trailer that is widely used as farm tractor. Afterward, you’ll also have a short lecture about the farming practice of vermiculture which involves the cultivation of worms to be used as compost. It is one of the best ways to improve the soil and provide essential minerals that plants need to produce healthy, nutrient-dense crops. You’ll get up close and personal with some of the friendly domestic farm animals and livestock such as cattle, goats, and free-range chickens. To complete the farm experience, you’ll also partake of a simple lunch served “boodle style”, where a shared meal is served cooked inside a bamboo, just like in the olden days.
