See firsthand the beauty of Bacolod with this Silay heritage tour that will bring you a taste of the city’s rich culture. This tour is ideal for those looking forward to enjoying the history, ancient traditions, and great food of Bacolod in just one go.

You will be picked up by your tour guide within Bacolod City. Once all is settled, you will head to your first destination, the Provincial Capitol Building and Lagoon. The capitol building has played a significant role in shaping the history of the province as it was where the Japanese Imperial Army headquartered during World War II.

From the capitol, you will next go to Balay Negrense, an ancestral house that now serves as a museum. It is considered the first-ever museum established in Negros Occidental province. Around 300 meters from Balay Negrense is another ancestral home in the area, the Ramon Hofileña Ancestral House. Although one of the heirs of the house resides here, he still personally tours guests around the old building.

The Pro-Cathedral of Silay and the Mini Ruins are both within easy reach from the ancestral houses. Known by locals as San Diego Pro-Cathedral, it is considered the only dome church in the North and the only pro-cathedral in the Philippines. After offering a short prayer in the church, you will stopover for lunch at one of the seafood restaurants in the area.

After lunch, you will be taken to Cinco De Noviembre Tag Point. This is where the locals celebrate the day of Negros to mark the revolution of the Negrense in 1898 against Spanish colonial rule. From there, you will drop by Balay ni Tana Dicang, an ancient house made of rocks. Not only is this place known as an old mansion, but its heritage dishes, of which some are still served, are frequently visited.

Around five kilometers away from the old mansion is The Ruins, another family house that has a dark history during the occupation of Japan. Once you finish exploring the area, you will be taken to the shopping center of Bongbong and Merci and the El Ideal Bakery to grab some souvenirs and pastries before going home.

Take a dive into the fascinating Bacolod Silay history and heritage with this one-day tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
