Get introduced to the iconic Balangiga Bells of Samar and the must-see landmarks of Tacloban City on this guided day tour. Taking you to two islands in one day, this private combination tour is perfect for those who want to get the best of their Eastern Visayas trip.

Your tour will start when your driver picks you up from your accommodation in Leyte and drives you to your first destination, the San Lorenzo de Martyr Church. Also known as St. Lawrence the Martyr Church, the church houses the famous Balangiga Bells. These historical relics are the new attractions in town after it was returned to Balangiga in December 2018 after 117 years in America. The three bells are now considered as a national treasure but in 1901, they were used as an instrument in the war between the Philippines and America. Get to know the bravery of the Samareños while on the site.

Head next to Tacloban City to get the best views of the town and be charmed by the rich culture of the place. Visit the famous San Juanico Bridge dubbed as the longest bridge in the Philippines, which connects the provinces of Samar and Leyte. Admire its beautiful architecture and take a picture of the panoramic view you’ll get from the place.

Your next stop is the MV Jocelyn Shipwreck. This was originally a cargo ship before the 2013 Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) washed it ashore, killing many. It is now a memorial dedicated to the lives it took that day.

Around three kilometers from the shipwreck is the Sto. Niño Shrine and Heritage Park, where you will find luxurious facilities, including a grand ballroom, dining hall, and glamorous furniture, among others. From there, you will make your way to the Astrodome for some photo-ops before you head to the Yolanda Memorial Monument in Sagkahan. Similar to the MV Jocelyn Shipwreck, this marker is erected as a remembrance of the devastating typhoon.

Not far from the memorial is the MacArthur Landing Memorial Park. It sits at the Red Beach in Palo, a small town close to Tacloban, and serves as a tribute to the American-Filipino alliance. After some photo-ops here, you will head downtown for a running tour around the City Hall, Provincial Capitol, Divine Word Hospital and Divine Word University,  UP Tacloban, and the Magsaysay Blvd.

Appreciate the history of Eastern Samar and the culture of Leyte with this day tour of Balangiga Bells and Tacloban City. Check availability by choosing a date.
