Deepen your faith as you embark on a Visita Iglesia journey while on vacation in Pangasinan. Taking you to seven iconic old churches within the province, this full-day tour is perfect for those wanting to understand Christianity better and looking to find solace away from the hectic city.
You will be meeting your guide at a designated meeting place in Pangasinan early in the morning. From there, you will depart for Lingayen to start your Visita Iglesia tour. The Visita Iglesia is a traditional local custom wherein practitioners go to seven churches during Maundy Thursday. This is an age-old practice that dates back centuries and is carried on by devotees.
Upon arrival in Lingayen, you will be stopping by the Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Lingayen. This church has a long history dating back to the 1580s. Delve deeper into your spirituality with a stop at the Our Lady of the Purification Church in the municipality of Binmaley. This beautiful building was built in the late 1620s. After saying a short prayer here, you will then be taken to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John in Dagupan City.
Although the cathedral is not as old as the two previous churches, it still provides a solemn mood perfect for reflection. You will be exploring the grounds of the church and attending the Chrism Mass here before you head to Saint Peter and Paul Parish in Calasiao.
Adorned with a serene atmosphere for prayer and contemplation, this church was founded way back in 1588. It is listed as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the National Museum of the Philippines. You will then continue your spiritual journey at the Parish of St. Thomas Aquinas in Mangaldan, the Holy Family Parish in Sta. Barbara, and the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag before heading home.
