Known as the Twin Lakes of Sibulan, Lake Balinsasayao and Lake Danao are about 100,000 years old. At the time, a volcanic eruption took place and created a 90-meter-deep crater, where rainwater settled over time.
You'll be picked up from your hotel and make your way to Sibulan, a small town in Negros Oriental bordered to the south by the capital Dumaguete City. The town of Sibulan is also where you’ll find the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes National Park sitting on top of the mountains at approximately 850m above sea level.
On your way to the park, you’ll be passing through a hilly road, giving you a scenic view of the Tañon Strait, south Cebu, and various mountains along the way.
Upon reaching the site, you’ll be requested to register and then you’ll be going to a restaurant overlooking the lake. Here, you’ll be briefed about the next part of the tour, riding a boat (banca) to cross Lake Balinsasayao. Your adventure continues as you go on a 10-minute hike around the rocky terrains of Lake Balinsasayao to reach Lake Danao. Come prepared for the trek in your proper footwear.
Marvel in the majesty of the twin lakes, surrounding mountains, mini falls, and lush forests. Be on the watch for the Flaming Sunbird too, one of the many varieties of birds that roam the skies around the twin lakes.
When it’s time to return to the other side of Lake Balinsasayao, you’ll be riding the banca one more time before having your lunch. The tour ends once you’re brought back to your hotel.
