Witness fireflies glowing in the night sky on this Coron, Palawan firefly watching tour. This guided evening adventure will take you to a mangrove and forest park in Coron, an area where local wildlife thrives. The tour includes entrance fees, barbecue dinner at a local restaurant, and shared transport service with pick up and drop off points located in Coron town, all planned within a 3-hour time frame.
Fireflies are endemic in warm, tropical regions, which is why there are so many of these glimmering creatures in Coron’s mangrove forest, the largest in the area. Fireflies do not give off ultraviolet light or infrared frequencies but instead emit blue light. To see these creatures from a safe distance, you’ll be riding a boat that will slowly cruise along the swampy river beginning at dusk, when numerous fireflies begin to emit twinkling lights around the forest. It’s best to turn off the flash on your cameras and not to make too much noise to encourage the sensitive creatures to come out.
Aside from the fireflies, another natural light show also happens on the river. Look down around you and turn your attention to the bioluminescent planktons surrounding the boat. A gentle tap on the still waters is enough to encourage the planktons to wake up and release a natural light that glows beneath. If the timing is right, both fireflies and bioluminescent planktons will be glowing brightly in the dark.
This Coron firefly watching tour includes entrance fees and first aid kits along with a licensed tour guide to assist you throughout the trip. Dinner will be at the K-Grill Station or K-SARAP Express, a local restaurant famous for its sumptuous grilled dishes. Check availability by choosing a date.
