Put on your hiking shoes and bring a thirst for adventure as you join this full-day adventure to Mt. Pinatubo from Angeles or Clark in Pampanga. The crater lake provides spectacular views with its picturesque cone and blue-green waters.
The trip begins once your tour guide picks you up in Angeles City or Clark. You will be taken to the starting point in the town of Capas in Tarlac, where you will be transferred to a 4x4 jeep. A quick briefing on precautionary measures will follow before you make your way to the Crater Lake of Mt. Pinatubo. The ride to the trekking area goes through lahar-filled terrain surrounded by rock formations and craggy peaks.
After the bumpy adventure, you will begin your trek up the lake. The trail is mostly flat with a few stream crossings and dirt roads. While on your way, you will be rewarded with beautiful views characterized by canyons and lush terrain, some of which were formed by lahar and Pinatubo’s eruption more than a decade ago. Go at your own pace and enjoy nature instead of rushing through. Take a break once in a while and capture precious moments with a video or pictures.
You can also bring trail food and extra water to replenish lost energy during the trek. Note that there is minimal to no shade on the way, so prepare accordingly. Your reward after a tiring trek is the overlooking view of the turquoise-tinged lake of Mt. Pinatubo. Soak in the surroundings, take several photos, and document your trip. Swimming and boating are no longer allowed on the crater lake itself, so content yourself with photos and videos. Have lunch here and rest for a while before beginning the return trip to the jump-off point. From there, you will be taken back to Angeles City or Clark.
