Review of Manila Intramuros Shared Half-Day Walking Tour with Guide

Our tour guide, Ian, was so fantastic! He went above and beyond during our short time together, which truly enhanced our group's overall experience. We had some last minute additions to our initial booking, and they were assigned to a different guide. Luckily, Ian and the other guide discussed and were both able to accommodate our request to do the walking tour together instead of separately. That was very appreciated! Ian was a wealth of knowledge and you could see that he was passionate about his job, mentioning random facts many would not know, and about the history that lies within Intramuros. The history was fascinating to see and hear about; he kept us connected and engaged the entire time. Our group learnt so much from him! He took pictures of us on his personal phone and sent them after our tour. He also reached out the following day to wish us well, to enjoy our stay but to also keep safe as there was a tropical depression that day. I'm pleased to say that our group would be happy to rebook another walking tour with Ian, or anyone from your team the next time we return to the Philippines. We had so much fun, learnt and had seen so much, and overall just really enjoyed our tour. The weather at the time was a bit cloudy and humid. Tips I would recommend to others would be to bring a towel to keep cool and wipe yourself down with, or maybe bring a fan. Wear a hat and sunglasses, and to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. A bag also helps with carrying those items around! Major kudos to Ian and a huge thank you to your team!

Are there guided tour packages specifically designed for seniors in the Philippines?

Yes! Aside from day tours, some travel marketplaces like Guide to the Philippines offer family vacation packages and group tours in the Philippines tailored to seniors, featuring slower-paced activities at some of the best places to visit in the Philippines.

Other perks might be included in Philippine luxury vacation packages and longer Philippine itinerary tour packages.

While the Philippines is generally safe for solo travelers, seniors should exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings, especially in underrated places in the Philippines. Underrated places often lack the well-developed tourist infrastructure found in more established areas, which can mean fewer English speakers, limited accessibility options, and potentially less familiarity with travel scams targeting seniors.

When it comes to vacation for senior citizens, it's recommended to travel with a companion or join organized tours for added safety and convenience.

Essential items to pack include comfortable clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent, any necessary medications, a hat or umbrella for sun protection (especially if you’re visiting white sand beaches in the Philippines), and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. Seniors should familiarize themselves with emergency contact numbers such as local police, ambulance services, and the nearest embassy or consulate. It's also advisable to have a copy of their travel insurance policy and contact information readily available in case of emergencies.
